The BDHEA Board is pleased to announce the appointment of Caretha Coleman as the new Board Chair and Michael Robinson as the Vice Chair, both effective March 3, 2024

Caretha Coleman, one of BDHEA’s Co-Founders and Executive Sponsors, brings a wealth of experience to the role of Chair. Her distinguished career includes serving as the Chairman of the Board for Dignity Health and currently holding the position of Vice Chairman of Accion Opportunity Fund. Caretha’s 40-year journey spans the healthcare and technology sectors, as well as extensive work with non-profit organizations dedicated to underrepresented populations. She is widely recognized for her advocacy for women and minorities.   Ms. Coleman was formally introduced as BDHEA Chair at the 2024 National Summit – Health Equity Now: Charting our Course”.

Michael Robinson, a dedicated Founding Board Member who has served as the BDHEA’s Fund Development Chair for three years, assumes the role of Vice Chair. With over 35 years of experience, Michael is the Founder and Managing Partner at Miro Ventures. His recent role as Vice President North America Healthcare for VMware Corporation showcased his industry strategy and sales execution expertise, following significant contributions as Vice President for Microsoft’s Health & Life Sciences business in the United States.

Our esteemed Co-Founder and Inaugural Board Chair, John W. Daniels, Jr., stepped down from his role, effective March 3, 2024. His visionary leadership has been instrumental in establishing the solid foundation upon which we will continue to build and evolve our unwavering commitment to addressing health disparities within the Black community in America.

Under John’s guidance, BDHEA, founded in 2020, has made remarkable strides, and we extend our deepest gratitude for his tireless efforts and exceptional contributions. While stepping down from the role of Board Chair, John will remain an invaluable member of the BDHEA Board.
